Traditions of Ukrainian weddings

In addition to the formal wedding ceremony at the registry workplace, it is customary to have a few traditional activities if you are planning a Ukrainian bridal. Among them is the otsitki, where the couple is presented with a rounded bright bakery baguette and sodium. A piece of wheat is supposed to be broken off, seasoned with salt, and eaten by the handful. The more the bakery is broken, the better, because it represents a extended, happy marriage. They are then supposed to crush the sleep. The newlyweds even receive a towel that they must step on as they leave the service house. This is intended to be the first step into their upcoming family.

The newlyweds are pampered by the family’s ( starosty ) on a rushnyk-style embroidered cloth. Shortly before the official meeting, this occurs. If the relatives are feeling dramatic, they might actually attempt to deceive the Bride into paying a good by using an impersonator of the wife.

On the day of the bride( Saturday or sunday ), the home may become prepared. Flowers and food were picked, food was prepared, and cooking began, typically making korovai, a special ritual bread made of dough and decorated with birds, flowers, and animals. It was customarily made by women who were regarded as having particular traits, including that they were never widows, that they had happy youngsters, and that they were wealthy.
